Minor Irrigation Department to restore 78,000 minor tanks: CM
Hyderabad, June 26 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today asked the Minor Irrigation Department to restore 78,000 minor tanks to solve water scarcity in the state.
Addressing a meeting here, he said restoration of minor tanks should be taken up on top priority basis and asked the Assistant Engineers (AEs) to inspect the restoration work and give its clearance once the work was over.
Dr Reddy asked the department to take the restoration work seriously and sensitise the AEs.
He said at least 40,000 tanks should be restored by January 2009 and asked the irrigation department to provide technical support for the work.
