Lok Ayukta sets deadline for MLAs to submit asset details

Bangalore, Jun 26 (UNI) Lok Ayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde today set June 29 as deadline for the members of the Karnataka legislature and their families to file the details on their assets and liabilities.

Details of assets for the period January one to December 31, 2006 need to be filed by them, a release issued by Lok Ayukta said here.

The declaration of assets and liabilities of the elected representatives had created furore earlier, with many legislators including, several ministers in the H D Kumaraswamy and those belonging to opposition Congress, failing to submit details of the previous year within the deadline.

The Lok Ayukta had cautioned them that they would be slapped criminal cases, if they did not adhere to the deadline.
