Jhajjar Thermal Plant to be commissioned by 2010
Chandigarh, June 26 (UNI) The 1500 MW Jhajjar Thermal Power Plant, costing Rs 8,000 crore, would be commissioned before the commencement of Commonwealth Games in 2010.
This was revealed in a meeting chaired by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here today while reviewing the progress of various projects in power sector.
The Chief Minister also directed the Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Power) that a policy be devised to provide employment to the youth of Khedar village in Hisar district, as its land had been acquired for the purpose of setting up of Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Plant.
He said the employment in the category of Class III and IV (technical and non-technical) would be given to one member of the each family whose land was acquired. The employment would be given on the basis of the eligibility of the candidate.
Mr Hooda hoped that the power supply situation would be eased by the next year as both units of 600 MW power of Yamunanagar plant would be commissioned by February, 2008.
