IT dept raids offices, residences of realtors, officials

Bangalore, June 26 (UNI) Officials of the Income Tax department here conducted raids in more than 25 offices and residences of six land developers and investors and three top officials of the state government in and around the city since midnight last night.

The raids were conducted based on some credible information and were still continuing with tight police security, official sources said. The officials were accused of colluding with the real estate businessmen.

IT officials, when contacted, neither confirmed nor denied the raids.

The sources said the IT officials reportedly recovered crores of Rupees in cash, ornaments and incriminating documents from the offices and the residences of the realtors. They had booked a case against the six persons for evading huge income tax.

Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, in his reaction, denied having any relation with the real estate businessmen whose offices and residential premises were raided.
