India in Japan DIY Home Center Show-07

New Delhi, June 26: India will participate in Japan DIY (Do-it-Yourself) Home Center Show 2007, at Makuhari Messe, Chiba in Japan from August 23 to 25 this year.

The participation is being organised by India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) under the Marketing Development Assistance (MDA) which offers financial assistance by the Government for participation in trade fairs.

The show will provide an excellent opportunity for Indian companies to enter the Japanese market and expand business in the target region.

Having grown in the past 31 years, DIY fair enjoys excellent reputation among the leading trade events in Asia. It is expected that due to sound economic position, brisk business may take place in DIY products.

During 2005, there were 605 exhibitors showcasing their products in 1,436 booths. Number of trade visitors to the show was more than 1,000 from Japan and other overseas markets. The growth in the sale of DIY products in Japan is increasing continuously since 1990. It was to the tune of 3,988 billion yen during 2005 as compared to 2,050 billion yen only during 1990, thus indicating a growth of more than 95 per cent over this period.

Similarly, the number of DIY stores touched 3,960 during 2005 compared to 2,255 in 1990, indicating a growth of 43 per cent over the period.

Display profile of the DIY show includes: tools, power tools, building materials, electric goods, lighting equipment, household fittings, home furnishings, plumbing materials, agricultural materials, sporting goods, dry or emergency food, pet-care items, kitchen items and healthcare materials, an ITPO release here said.
