Srinagar, June 26: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today claimed that efforts were on to sabotage the important Mughal Road project, which would connect the Valley with the rest of the country in all weather.

Addressing a day-long PDP convention at the tourist resort of Ahrabal in Kulgam district, he stressed the need for improving inter and intra state connectivity.

Mr Sayeed said lack of accessibility has had almost a crippling fallout on the state economy. Even after 60 years of independence, Kashmir was yet to have reliable all-weather connectivity with the rest of the world, he added.

''Ironically, hundred and one unnecessary impediments have been intentionally created even in the execution of a vital connectivity project - the Mughal Road,'' the PDP leader claimed.

While nobody objected to the construction of Delhi-Dehradun expressway through Rajaji National Wildlife Park in Uttarakhand, he alleged that unnecessary hue and cry was being raised over the Mughal Road construction on flimsy grounds to sabotage the project.

''Any further delay in the execution of the Mughal Road project would only concretize such doubts,'' he cautioned.
