Eco blockade of Maoists peaceful so far in Jehanabad
Jehanabad, Jun 26 (UNI) The CPI(Maoist)-sponsored two-day economic blockade passed off peacefully today in Jehanabad and Arwal districts amid tight security arrangements.
The call partially affected life in both districts, badly hitting inter-state road traffic and movement of trains on the Patna-Gaya section of East Central Railway.
A high alert had been sounded in both districts following the blockade on June 26 and 27.
Search operations had been intensified and all police stations were put on alert.
Security had been beefed up along the tracks on Patna-Gaya section and a strict vigil was being maintained at sensitive railway stations like Nadaul, Jehanabad, Neyazipur, Makhdumpur and Banabar.
The policemen deployed at far flung outposts had been ordered to remain alert.
Jehanabad district administration had also stepped up security in and around important government institutions like jail, police line and the collectorate.
