Driver of overturned school bus commits suicide

Mumbai, June 26 (UNI) The driver of a school bus, which turned turtle last evening here, allegedly committed suicide near Borivali railway station.

The deceased, identified as Laxman Mhatre (30), committed suicide last night by jumping before a speeding local train at the Borivali railway station. He took the drastic step fearing his arrest, the railway police said today.

His parents have identified the body and it has been sent to Bhagwati Hospital for a postmortem.

Mhatre was working as a driver of the Anjuman Islam School. Last evening, the bus that he was driving went over a divider and overturned at Varsova in suburban Andheri, injuring 15 out of 24 pupils.

A case of accidential death has been registered, police added.
