Centre grants funds to UP, Orissa, Manipur under SGRY

New Delhi, June 26 (UNI) The Centre has granted foodgrains and funds to Uttar Pradesh, Orissa and Manipur for implementation of the Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) while Rajasthan has been given money to construct roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna.

Rural Development Ministry has sanctioned Grants-in-aid amounting to Rs 142.46 crore to 31 districts of Uttar Pradesh under SGRY. The money has been released towards balance of first instalment of funds as Central assistance for implementation of the project.

Also 14,073 MTs rice has been released by the Ministry to six Districts of Orissa. The rice would be released to the state through Food Corporation of India depots in the State under SGRY.

Manipur has been given grants amounting to Rs 7.16 crore as balance of first instalment to five districts.

The grant is towards plan expenditure and will be utilized for approved items of works subject to the conditions laid down in the SGRY Guidelines. No deviation from the provisions of the Guidelines is permissible. The expenditure on implementation of the programme with regard to cash component is to be shared on 75:25 basis between the Central and the State Government respectively.

Meawnhile, Rajasthan has received Rs. 276.51 crore as balance payment of first instalment of grants-in-aid for Phase VI of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). The money has been given to Rajasthan Rural Road Development Authority (RRRDA), which is the autonomous agency for receiving funds under the programme.

Funds amounting to Rs 640 crore have already been released as part payment of first instalment to the RRRDA under the scheme from January 2007 to April, 2007.
