Amravati Division girls top SSC examination in Vidarbha

Nagpur, June 26: Three girls from Amravati Division have grabbed the top three spots in Vidarbha in this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination conducted by Maharashtra State Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education in March, the results of which were declared today.

Keerti Shivprakash Bhandari of Manibai Gujarati High School, Amravati, scored 619 marks out of 650, aggregating 95.23 per cent, to emerge the overall topper as well as the first among girls in Vidarbha. She was also the first overall and the first among girls in Amravati Division.

Reshma Begum Sheikh Majid of Janata Shikshan Prasarak Mandal Vidyalaya, Fulsawangi (district Yavatmal), was second overall as well as second among girls in Vidarbha, with her score of 618 (95.07 per cent). She was also the second overall and second among girls in Amravati Division.

Pallavi Subhash Bhamre of Bharat Vidayalaya, Amravati, was the third overall and third among girls, as well as the first among backward class students in Vidarbha. She scored 616 marks (94.76 per cent) to emerge the third overall, third among girls and first among backward class students in Amravati Division.

Payal Sudhakar Kamdi of Subodh High School (Vidarbha Mills), Achalpur (district Amravati) was the first among handicapped students in the division, with 576 marks (88.61 per cent). In Nagpur Division, three students are joint toppers with identical scores in what is a very rare and probably the first such instance.

Satyamedh Anirudhya Nandedkar of Balmandir Secondary High School, Girija Hemant Waghmare of St Xavier's High School (both Nagpur) and Asma Jabeen Abu Zafar Khan of Dr Zakir Hussain Urdu High School, Pulgaon (district Wardha) have topped the SSC examination in Nagpur Division with identical scores of 615 out of 650, aggregating 94.61 per cent. Girija and Asma are also the first among girls in the division.

Ketki Anirudha Gupta of Mount Carmel Girls High School, Nagpur, is second overall as well as second among girls in the division with a score of 613 (94.30 per cent).

Ritu Anil Goenka of Somalwar High School, Nagpur, is third overall and third among girls in the division with 611 marks (94.00 per cent).

Jayant Yaduvirsingh Yadav of Somalwar High School and Srushti Jayant Karmarkar of Mount Carmel Girls High School (both Nagpur) are joint toppers among backward class students in the division. Both scored 608 marks to aggregate 93.53 per cent.

Shyam Harikishan Gupta of Deaf and Dumb School, Nagpur, is the first among handicapped students in the division with 578 marks (88.92 per cent).

The overall pass percentage was 67.89 in Amravati Division and 59.19 in Nagpur Division.
