Nashik: 10-yr-old falls into 60 feet deep well

Nashik, June 26: A ten-year-old boy Rishikesh Gopane fell into a 60-feet deep well at Vadala village near here.

The mishap took place yesterday at Khodemala area in the village when the boy, a Class IV student, was returning home from school along with his four friends, fire brigade sources said.

The exact reason as to how the boy fell inside the well is not yet known.

Two fire tenders from Nashik and Cidco fire stations respectively were pressed into the rescue operation. Search lights and cameras were also put to use but the body could not be found.

The rescue operation had been postponed till today morning.

Villagers were demanding that the search and rescue work should continue even during the night time.

Nashik Municipal Corporation's (NMCs) Chief Fire Officer Anil Mahajan explained, ''Darkness and the presence of about 40 to 50 feet water inside the well, are the reasons why the rescue operation had been postponed.''
