Women kept under house arrest for seven years rescued
Hubli, June 25 (UNI) A woman allegedly kept under house arrest by husband, mother-in-law and sister-in law at a house here and tortured for seven years was rescued here yesterday.
Mohammad Gous Makanadar, who married Sayeeda Banu in the year 2000 July had kept her under house arrest till yesterday and continuously torturing her. Nature of torture included making her sleep on bare floor, keeping her naked for days, giving spoilt food, if slept in the afternoon applying pain balm in her eyes and burning her with iron box.
Sayeeda who suffered the torture from the day one of her marriage, was rescued by the activists of Kannada Rakshana Vedike and Annapurneshwari Mahila Mandal, when parents of the victim approached them.
A case in all women police station has been registered and the police had arrested three accused, police said.
