Two killed as radio-cab collides with tempo in Mehrauli

New Delhi, June 25 (UNI) Two people died and a dozen others were injured when a radio taxi collided head-on with a tempo in Mehrauli area of South Delhi this morning.

While Rajpal (35), one of the labourers travelling in the tempo, died on the spot, another person Ladin (35) succumbed to his injuries at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, the police said.

The collision, which took place at Sanjay Colony, near Bhati Mines in Mehrauli at about 0930 hrs, occurred due to overspeeding by the radio-cab driver on a rough patch of road, said onlookers.

Soon after the collision the tempo, carrying about 30 labourers, overturned hurting nearly a dozen of them including its driver.

The cab driver, however, managed to flee from the spot.

A case has been registered and search for the missing driver was on, the police added.

The radio-taxis were introduced recently in the city.
