'Election booths 200 mts away from polling centres'

Chennai, June 25: The Election Commission (EC) has directed the polling agents of the respective parties to set up election booths , for the June 26 by-poll to Madurai West Assembly constituency, beyond 200 meters of polling stations.

An official release here today said the polling agents should have the Elector's Photo Identity Card (EPIC) issued by the competent authority.

To regulate the queue in the polling stations and to ensure that no non-voter joins the queue, the EC would appoint indentification officers to check the document in possession of the voters standing in the queue, the release added.
