Railways sound extra alert in view of maoists call

Patna, Jun 25 (UNI) The railways have taken extra precautions for safety and security of the passengers and cancelled or diverted the routes of several trains in view of the maoist-sponsored two day economic blocakde in the state.

Sources at the East Central Railway (ECR) Hajipur said here that express and mail trains, including 2453 Rajdhani Express, 2873 Swarnajayanti Express, 1447-1448 Shaktipunj Express, 3347 Palamu Express would remain cancelled on June 26.

All passenger, express and mail trains plying during night hours on Patna-Gaya rail section and Samastipur rail division had been cancelled on June 25 and 26.

The sources said that the routes of 8102 Jammu Tavi Tata Muri Express, 3025 Howrah-Bhopal Express, 8612 Varanasi-Ranchi Express had been diverted.

The sources further disclosed that the mail and express trains would move one after another on Patna-Gaya rail section and that too after plying of a pilot engine in advance on June 25 and 26.

Similar practice would be adopted on Grand Chord division during night hours.

The sources said that a quick reaction team had been formed at Patna, Gaya and Jehanabad railway stations for immediate action in case of any eventuality and a tower wagon would remain prepared to carry them on the spot.
