Quality education imperative for any nation's progress: Bhatia

Kochi, June 25 (UNI) Stressing the importance of education, Kerala Governor R L Bhatia today said the progress of any country depends on the standard of education imparted to its citizens right from the elementary level.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the valedictory function of the golden jubilee celebrations of St Joseph College of Teacher Education for Women here, he said the education system should ensure that the students get a strong foundation on any subject.

''Education should reform and refine the innate talents of the students and prepare them to face the challenges of the future,'' he noted.

Mr Bhatia said the perception of knowledge had undergone a sea-change with the advent of new avenues in the education sector.

The integration of fields like IT, science, disaster management, space and tele-medicine would help to create a more sustainable knowledge society, he added.
