Prez polls: Total of 21 nominations received

New Delhi, June 25: Five sets of nominations were received here today for the July 19 Presidential polls, taking the total number to 21.

The last date for filing nominations is June 30.

According to information received from the office of the Returning Officer, two set of nominations were filed by NDA -supported Independent nominee Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.

The other three candidates include Mr Vikram of Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh who along with his nomination papers submitted the Electoral Rolls displaying his name. Mr Vikram, however, did not submit the statutory security deposit nor were his nomination papers accompanied by the signatures of his proposers or the seconders.

Mr Prem Singh Saini of Haridwar in Uttarakhand was another candidate who filed his nomination paper. It was also accompanied by the Electoral rolls displaying his name in the list. Mr Saini's nomination also did ot contain any cash deposit nor was it supported by the proposers and seconders.

The last nomination of the day was filed by Ms Bhatia Chandra Mohan Lal of Mumbai. Her nomination paper was submitted along with the statutory cash deposit of Rs 15,000 and the Electoral Roll displaying her name in the list. Ms Lal's nomination paper also does not contain the signatures of the proposers or the seconders of her candidature.
