Police arrests 5, seizes 2000 pirated VCDs, DVDs

Chennai, June 25 (UNI) The Anti-Piracy Cell of Crime Branch CID police arrested five persons and seized 2000 pirated VCDs and DVDs of new Tamil movies and pornographic CDs here today.

Anti-Piracy Cell Police Inspector Elizhl Arasan, who led the raids, said the raids were conducted at K K Nagar, Vadapalani, Sholinganallur, Virugambakkam and other places in the city based on a tip-off.

The seized VCDs and DVDs included latest Tamil films ''Shivaji'', ''Naan Avanillai'' and ''Arputha theevu''.

He said that the preliminary enquiries revealed that the pirated VCDs and DVDs of ''Shivaji'' were made at Puducherry.

The arrested, Maheshkumar (20), Selvam (30), Prakash (23), Jawahar Sadiq (24) and Dheena(19), were remanded to judicial custody, he added.
