One prisoner dead, 6 policemen wounded in UP clash

Sultanpur, June 25 (UNI) A prisoner was killed and six police personnel were seriously injured in a clash between the policemen and jail inmates in the Sultanpur district jail here today.

District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar told UNI that the incident took place when the prisoners assaulted the Jail superintendent, resulting in the firece clash.

Police opened several rounds of fire to disperse the unruly prisoners.

The injured policemen were admitted to a hospital and two among them were stated to be in a critical condition.

Later, senior police officials reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
