NHPC's advance to provide succour to Apex Bank customers:Khandu

Itanagar, Jun 25 (UNI) Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu today said the National Hydro Power Corporation's (NHPC) payment of Rs 225 crore would help revive the ailing Arunachal Pradesh Cooperative Apex Bank.

Briefing media persons here, Mr Khandu said the amount would be spent on paying the customers' deposited money, which could not be withdrawn after the bank collapsed due to mismanagement. '' Our efforts are on to revive the bank at the earliest, '' he said adding the government would not spare anybody, found responsible for the present state of affairs of the Bank.

The government decided to take action, including criminal action, auction of property of all the erring persons and loaners, who had obtained loan through fraudulent means irrespective of their status, he categorically said.

He also said the government was giving one month's time to the defaulters to repay their loan amount.

The Chief Minister said all the Deputy Comissioners had been appointed chairmen of the district committees and they would monitor the recovery drive.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister termed the allegation of nepotism against him by various quarters as baseless and alleged that it was the handiwork of a senior leader of his party to tarnish his political image.
