NCR Board sanctions Rs 186 cr for Haryana areas

Chandigarh, Jun 25 (UNI) The National Capital Region Board has sanctioned a sum of Rs 187 crore for augmentation of water supply and laying the sewerage system in the rural as well as urban areas of Haryana falling in the NCR while projects worth Rs 103 crore are in the pipeline.

This was revealed in a meeting of Water Supply and Sanitation Department held under the Chairmanship of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here today.

The Chief Minister said a sum of Rs 105 crore had been sanctioned by the NABARD to provide water supply facilities in the rural areas besides a sum of Rs 155 crore earmarked under Indira Gandhi Water Supply Scheme during the current financial year.

Referring to the amount provided by the NCR Board, the Chief Minister said a sum of Rs 150 crore would be incurred for providing and augmenting water supply facilities in the rural areas. Besides a sum of Rs 140 crore would be incurred in the urban areas for providing water sewerage and water supply facility.

Mr Hooda directd the Water Supply and Sanitation Department authorities that the schemes announced by him in NCR areas be completed by 2009.
