MLAs seek 'White Paper' on land encroachment in Mysore
Bangalore, June 25 (UNI) Alleging large tracts of government land have been encroached by 'land grabbers' in Mysore, two legislators asked the state government to take action to recover the valuable property and punish the guilty.
In a letter written to Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, a copy of which was released to the press here, Dr M P Nadagouda (JD-U) and Mr Mukyamantri Chandru (BJP) alleged land worth crores had been encroached by 'land Mafia' in and around Mysore city.
They charged a cartel which included some high-level officials was behind the encroachment and the Karnataka Lok Ayukta had also submitted a report on the issue.
The state government was also in possession of report submitted by T M Vijayabhaskar and M K Baladev Krishna Committees 'which had confirmed the indiscriminate encroachment of valuable government land.' Demanding the state government to extend the programme of recovery of government land beyond Bangalore City, the legislators also urged the government to come out with a 'White Paper' on the land grabbing incidents in the entire state.
