Mining dept. Director resigns over mine allotments

Jaipur, June 25 (UNI) Rajasthan Mining Department Director G L Vyas has tendered his resignation following controversy over allotments of mines.

An official spokesman said Mr Vyas was retained in service on contract for one year after his retirement from regular departmental service last year.

He had sent his resignation to the Mine Depoartment secretary from Udaipur, the spokesman said.

The controversy over allotment of mines was created a few days ago after a news item which had reported that Mines Minister Laxmi Narain Dave had extended benefits to some of his relatives in mines allotments.

However, Mr dave had clarified that he had no role in allotments of mines and the same was done by the director on recommendations from mining engineer.

Mr Dave had also explained his position to the Chief Minister.
