Maoists blow up railway control room in Bihar

Motihari, June 25: Maoists today blew up the Mehsi railway station's control room at Motihari in East Champaran district.

Railway sources here said two people were seriously injured in the explosion that occurred at around 0630 hrs. They were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Sources said the explosives were planted on a bicycle near the control room, which was badly damaged in the blast.

They said a major accident was averted as the explosion took place minutes before a passenger train crossed the station. Some other trains were also suspended for a few hours on the route. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Rail Police (GRP) were camping at the railway station.

Rail traffic has resumed on the route after a security checkup.
