Lakhs of people take dip on 'Ganga Dussehra'

Lucknow, June 25 (UNI) On the auspicious occasion of 'Ganga Dussehra' today, lakhs of devotees took the holy dip in the sacred rivers and ponds at different places in Uttar Pradesh.

According to Hindu mythology, King Bhagirath had brought the river Ganga on earth on this day. Thus, people celebrate the day by visiting temples after ablution.

On the occasion, 'Garh Mukteshwar' in Ghaziabad, 'Shukra Tal' in Muzaffarnagar and Bijnore Barrage and Kairana ghat at river Yamuna in Bijnore district attracted a large number of devouts.
