Lakhs of devotees flock to Hardwar on Ganga Dusshera
Hardwar, June 25 (UNI) Lakhs of devotees today thronged the banks of the holy Ganga river on the occasion of Ganga Dusshera, which is mythologically considered the day of descent of the river on the earth.
Nearly ten lakh people, mostly from western UP, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Rajasthan and Gujarat, today had a dip in the Ganga.
The unprecedented rush of the pilgrims threw life in the city out of gear.
The administration has made elaborate security arrangements and enforced a strict traffic plan. No untoward incident was reported so far from anywhere in the mela area.
