Joint Task Force of Bihar and Jharkhand to fight extremism

Patna, Jun 25 (UNI) Concerned over the growing menace of extremism, the Bihar and Jharkhand government today formulated a multi-pronged strategy and constituted a joint task force to fight against the maoists, active in both states.

The task force was formed for the first time during the high level meeting of the police and administrative machinery of Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh held here during the day.

State headquarter sources said here that the joint task force would launch combing operation in the twin states of Bihar and Jharkhand facing extremist menace since long.

The sources said a joint task force was essential as entire Jharkhand and most of the districts of Bihar were extremism -affected.

The sources said the representatives of the government of all the three states, attending the meeting decided for conducting joint surveillance on the borders they share with each other as the extremists easily slip into these states after their operations.

The sources said constant vigil would be maintained on the borders and the cops of the three states would keep eagle eyes on movements of the suspected people.

The sources further disclosed that the authorities of the three states exchanged list of maoist extremists and absconding as well as arrested criminals in their jurisdiction.

The meeting was attended by the officers, including Director General Of Police A R Sinha, Home secretary Afzal Amanullah, Additional Director General Abhayanand, special secretary home P N Rai, IG operations S K Bhardwaj (all from Bihar), Additional Director General of Jahrkhand G S Rath, IG operations of Jharkhand B K Pandey, Home Secretary of UP Sudhir Tripathi, Additional Director General special branch of UP Malkiyat Singh and IG operation Kashmira Singh.
