Indian Bank to swell customer base
Vijayawada, June 25: The Indian Bank has launched a programme to enrol atleast one member of a family as its account holder, Bank Chairman and Managing Director M S Sundara Rajan said today.
Talking to reporters after inaugurating an ATM facility here, he said the programme would mainly focus on rural areas.
Stating that only 30 per cent of the population had access to banks, Mr Rajan said the initiative would raise the national average.
The Bank had already enrolled 1,00,000 customers in Puducherry, mostly from the rural areas.
Stating that 1.119 branches had been brought under core banking system, he said it was planning to introduce the system in 50 more branches in north India in this fiscal.
