Huge cache of arms recovered, police HC kidnapped in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jun 25 (UNI) Border Security Force (BSF) unearthed a hideout and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition while militants kidnapped a head constable of Jammu and Kashmir police in the valley overnight.

A police spokesman said troops of 95 Battalion BSF launhced a search operation in general area of Khumduri in the frontier district of Kupwara early this morning following a tip off from locals about militant hideout.

During the operation a hideout was busted and a large cache of arms and ammunition were recovered, including one AK rifle, 11 magazines, 400 rounds, one Pistol, three Chinese hand grenades, 14 UBGL, one UMG magazine drum type, four Electric detonators, four Assembly detonators, two Igniter sets, one wireless set, five IED timer devices, five switches and 01 bore gun (damaged). However, no one was arrested.

He said militants kidnapped a Head Constable Farooq Ahmad Tantray at Naibug from his house in south Kashmir. A massive hunt has been launched to rescue him, he said.
