Haryana: Rs 12.5 cr given to farmers for buying cattle
Chandigarh, Jun 25 (UNI) The Haryana government has arranged a cash credit of Rs 12.5 crore to 2475 dairy farmers at a low interest rate of eight per cent for the purchase of about 5000 milch animals under the White Card Scheme.
Minister of State for Cooperation Meena Mandal said the present government had introduced White Card scheme under which cards were being issued to dairy farmers who had been regularly selling their milk to the Dairy Cooperative Societies during summers and winters for the past three years.
She said that such card holders were being offered Rs one lakh loan without collateral security for the purchase of milch animals at 8 per cent rate of interest.
Besides, the members of Dairy Cooperative Societies were also being insured for Rs one lakh against death or disability in accidents.
She said an average rate of Rs 14.50 per litre milk was being given to farmers by the Dairy Cooperative Societies as against Rs 11.76 per litre over two years ago.
The Minister said the Federation had also drafted an elaborate action plan for the current financial year which envisages milk procurement average to reach 5.5 lakh litre per day as compared to 4.6 lakh litre per day of previous year.
