Haryana allocates Rs 115 cr for higher education

Chandigarh, June 25 (UNI) The Haryana government has earmarked a sum of Rs 115 crore for promotion of higher education in the state during the current financial year as against a provision of Rs 64.70 crore made during the last year.

Stating this here today, Haryana Education Minister Phool Chand Mullana said the allocation for higher education had been increased as the State Government was committed to impart quality education to the students.

The government, he said, had decided to spend a sum of Rs 14.70 crore for creating infrastructure besides maintenance of various Governement Colleges during the current financial year.

Mr Mullana said with a view to encouraging women for higher education, Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Khanpur Kalan had been set up in Sonipat district.

He said that it was the first women university in the northern region of the country where a number of job oriented courses had been introduced.

He said all the Government Colleges of the state had been connected through EDUSAT to make the college students IT-friendly.
