Gujarat gets foodgrains for 16 districts under SGPR
New Delhi, June 25 (UNI) The Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned the release of 21247 Metric Tonnes (MTs) of wheat during 2007-08 to 16 districts of Gujarat through Food Corporation of India (FCI) depots in the State under the Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) scheme.
The sixteen districts in the State which are to get foodgrains are Ahmedabad (1561), Amreli (1006), Anand (1041), Bhavnagar (1513), Gandhinagar (1063), Jamnagar (1065), Junagadh (1401), Kutch (1132), Kheda (1314), Mehsana (1367), Patan (1077), Porbandar (410), Rajkot(1397), Surendranagar (1464), Surat (2176) and Vadodara (2260).
The grant is towards plan expenditure and will be utilised for approved items of works subject to the conditions laid down in the SGRY Guidelines.
During 2007-08, foodgrains will be given to the labourers under SGRY at the rate of 3 Kg. instead of 5 Kg per manday as part of wages. The State Government must ensure timely payment of wages and timely and adequate supply of foodgrains. If the foodgrains are not available, wages should be paid in cash, said an official release here today.
