Fishermen of Saurashtra coast warned not to venture in sea

Rajkot, Jun 25 (UNI) Fishermen have been advised not to venture in the sea as forecast of heavy rainfall in the Saurashtra - Kutch region has been forecast in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Moderate to heavy showers had lashed many parts of the Saurashtra region during the last 24 hours, reports reaching here said today.

The city had received 18.3 mm till 0800 hrs today, making the season's total 95 mm, weather office said.

One tree was uprooted at Swaminarayan chowk of the city. However, no one was injured in the incident, the fire brigade sources said.

Meanwhile, the water level of the Moj Dam, near Upleta town of the district had increased by ten feet following heavy rainfall in the catchments area of the dam.

Rainfall ranging from 25 mm to 75 mm were reported from Veraval, Keshod, Manavadar and Jafrabad of Junagadh district, the reports said.

The reports of rains also received from parts of Jamnagar, Amreli, Porbandar and Rajkot districts.
