Decision on Siddhivinayak temple road soon: BMC Chief

Mumbai, Jun 25 (UNI) The Birhanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will soon decide whether the Kakasaheb Gadgil Marg, a road adjacent to the famous Siddhivinayak temple, for traffic.

BMC Commissioner Jairaj Pathak today said the traffic departments proposal to close the road and beef up security around the temple is lying with the works department of the civic body and the decision on the same will the taken soon.

''The road may be officially closed for traffic once the BMC takes a decision on it after consulting the concerned officials,'' he said.

The number of visitors to the temple has increased manyfold in the last few years and the management is facing problem controlling crowds, he said.

Kakasaheb Gadgil Marg is unofficially closed for traffic and the residents around the temple are facing problem of parking their vehicles and travelling on it besides, feeling hassled due to the move as a security measure adopted by the temple authorities.
