CPI objects Rajnikant's fans show in Puducherry
Puducherry, June 25 (UNI) Taking strong exception to the government permitting fans show for superstar Rajnikant's latest film ''Sivaji-The Boss'' here, the Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary Na Ra Kalainathan today announced that the party would resort to agitations if the Government permitted such shows in future.
Talking to mediapersons here, he alleged that contrary to Chief Minister N Rangasamy's announcement that fans show would not be permitted in the Union Territory on the floor of the House, he had granted permission to conduct the show for Sivaji and also released the first ticket here. The Chief Minister's act proved that he was unworthy of his post, he added.
Mr Kalainathan said ''The municipality will lose its revenue from entertainment tax if fan shows are permitted and Rs 1000 per ticket is charged for a show. People are being allegedly plundered''. The act of the government was encouraging anti-social elements, he charged.
The CPI leader wondered why the Government had permitted fans show for Sivaji when no tax concessions or financial support were given to the film 'Periyar'.
