Bangalore, June 25: The fourth edition of the two-day event, 'Continuum-2007', an interface between Industry and Acadamia on technical education will be held here from June 28.

Talking to newspersons Rishi Das, co-founder and CEO, Campus Connect, which is organising the event, said the event would bring together the top notch IT companies and over 100 member T-Schools from across the country.

The event would focus on trends in technical education, importance of university programmes, compensation and students' perception, recruitment trends in IT industry and campus branding among others.

The Continuum, would be attended by Deans and faculty of major engineering institutes including all the seven IITs, NITs, BITS Pilani, IT BHU. The IT industry representatives include Business and HR heads of leading companies like Yahoo Citrix, nVidia, Analog Devices, Texas Instrument and McAfee.

He said over 1300 students from across the country were quizzed about their perception on various issues including their preference to go for employment.

''Only 10 per cent of the students have expressed their willingness to join the industry and instead want to pursue their higher study. It is also no longer a preferred destination while lot of foreign students want to have their internship in India at their own cost'' he said.

He said by 2010 India was expected to generate export revenues to the tune of 60 billion USD and contribute a significant 28 per cent to the total talent pool of knowledge workers globally. A NASSCOM study also pointed out that the sector would be besieged with a severe skill shortage of over half a million knowledge workers by 2010.
