Chief Secretary to hold talks with Maharashtra official
Bangalore, June 25 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today said Chief Secretary P B Mahishi will leave for Mumbai tomorrow to hold talks with his Maharashtra counterpart regarding the release of water from Koyna dam without prior warning during the monsoon.
Mr Kumaraswamy told reporters here that Maharashtra had been releasing extra water from Koyna dam without intimation to the state in the last two years, causing heavy losses. The most affected districts were Bijapur, Belgaum and Raichur, he said.
He said the Chief Secretary would be holding talks with his counterpart, asking Maharashtra to put in place a better coordination mechanism with Karnataka while releasing water from the dam.
