Boy dies to save sister from drowning in Kashmir

Srinagar, June 25 (UNI) In an act of bravery, a ten-year-old boy lost his life while saving his sister from drowning in a waterfall at Aharbal in Kulgam district of south Kashmir yesterday, officials said today.

They said Dr Suhail Ahmed, a resident of posh Jawahar Nagar area in the city, had yesterday gone on a picnic along with his family members to the tourist resort of Aharbal in Kulgam district, about 86 km from here.

Ten-year-old Shahid Ahmed was busy playing with his little sister near the waterfall when she slipped into the water.

In a bid to save his sister, Shahid jumped into the water and somehow managed to save his sister but in the process drowned.

Police have launched massive efforts and sought the help of marine commandoes to trace the body of Shahid.
