Bombs hurled on Sibu's convoy; 4 persons detained

Ranchi, Jun 25: Former Coal Minister Sibu Soren, serving life imprisonment for murder of his personal assistant Shashinath Jha, today had a close shave after miscreants hurled two bombs on his convoy in Deoghar district, about 270 km from here.

The jailed Jharkhand Mukti Morcha supremo was returning to Dumka Central Jail after after he appeared in a Giridih court in the Kudko murder case in which three persons were killed in 1974 in the district.

Deoghar Superintendent of Police Manoj Kaushik told sources over phone that no one was hurt in the incident that occurred near Dumaria village on the Madhupur-Deoghar main road under Sarath police station area.

Four persons had been detained in this connection, Mr Kaushik said.

Earlier, brought amidst tight security Soren was produced in the court of Additional Sessions Judge(fifth) Pankaj Kumar, which fixed July 24 as the next date for the next hearing.

Soren, presently lodged in Dumka Central Jail, was also an accused in the three-decade-old Chirudih massacre in Jamtara district in which 11 people were killed.
