New Delhi, June 25 (UNI) The two-day BJP National Executive, first after the party's debacle in UP and Goa elections, began here today to analyse the causes of its defeats and work out strategy to take on 2009 General Elections.

The meet began at around 1230 hours soon after Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat filed his nomination papers to contest Presidential election as an independent candidate with the backing of NDA, also had on its agenda issues like Ram Sethu and farmers' plight forcing them to commit suicides.

The Executive which would be presented with reports from party State Presidents, would have detailed discussions of the outcome of the assembly elections in UP and Goa where it performed very poorly even after registering victories in Punjab and Uttaranchal.

Former World Bank expert Kalyani Raman will give a special insight into the UPA government's attempt to breach the legendary bridge built across the sea from India with Lanka by Lord Rama to liberate Sita from the clutches of Ravana.

The BJP and various organisations have urged the Ministry of Ports to change the alignment of Sethu Samudram Project in Dhanushkoti to save the oldest bridge across the sea while the Government insists that it was a natural formation and is refusing to budge, he said.

Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi will be moving the resolution demanding the government to retain Ram Sethu and change the alignment respecting the religious sentiments of millions of Hindus across the country.

Another senior leader Venkaiah Naidu will be moving a resolution concerning farmers' suicides and their problems while Sushma Swaraj will be moving the political resolution on the second day.

Noted farm scientist turned Rajya Sabha MP, Dr M S Swaminathan will be addressing the members of the Executive. He was also head of the Farmers Commission before getting nominated to Upper House of Parliament.
