BHEL wins Rs 106 cr contract from RINL
New Delhi, June 25: Outbidding a Chinese multinational, state-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has won a Rs 106 crore order for a turbo blower package from Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL).
The package will be installed at RINL's Vizag steel plant as part of the ongoing expansion project to raise the capacity of the plant to 6.3 million tonne per annum, a BHEL spokeman said here today.
The contract will be executed in a tight schedule of 28 months.
The order has been placed on BHEL in consortium with MAN Turbo, Germany, which will supply the state-of-the-art turbo blower.
The blower will generate compressed air at a high pressure to enhance combustion in the blast furnace, thereby resulting in hastening the steel melting process.
BHEL will manufacture and supply a 45 MW steam turbine with associated auxiliaries and balance of plant, in addition to erecting the site and commissioning the complete package.
BHEL's units at Hyderabad and Bangalore will supply the equipment whereas the company's power sector-southern region will undertake the site erection and commissioning activities.
For RINL, BHEL has earlier supplied and commissioned 3x63 MW steam turbine generators and 5x330 tonne per hour multifuel fired boilers.
