Work for expansion of NH 34 to strat next year: Pranab Muk
Farakka, Jun 24(UNI) Work for expansion of the arterial National Highway 34 will begin next year, subject to acquisition of the required land from the local people, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee today said.
Inaugurating a bailey bridge at Ballarpur near here, Mr Mukherjee urged the local people possessing land by the side of the highway to give their plots to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).
He said NHAI would give suitable compensation to the land owners if they extended cooperation in making NH 34 a four-lane highway.
The preparation of detailed report on the project was in progress and was likely to be completed by Ocoober this year, he added.
Speaking on tthe occasion, state PWD Minister Kshiti Goswami said the problem of huge traffic congestion would continue unless the Highway was made into a four lane one.
