Standard Chartered Bank ATMs pan India collapse
New Delhi, June 24: Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) ATMs pan India today collapsed due to a problem with the visa grid.
Services pertaining to cash withdrawal, account information were severely affected, sources learnt.
Customer care of SCB attributed the problem to a snag in the visa system and expected it to be working in two hours time. The problems of account holders were compounded with today being a Sunday and all branches being shut for the day. SCB has 6,500 ATM's in India.
On an average Rs 96.95 crore is transacted through ATMs of all banks throughout India.
ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank have not reported similar problems.
However, Deustche Bank ATMs have also been affected due to maintainence being carried out on the systems.
There are roughly about 33 million Visa cards in India.
The market share in India by purchase volumes is 70 per cent against MasterCard.
