Northwest region sweats it out in high humidity and heat
Chandigarh, June 24 (UNI) People sweated it out today in the northwest region due to a high level of humidity though the maximum temperature remained below normal.
The weatherman ruled out any possibility of a respite from the hot and humid conditions for next two days.
The humidity level in some areas of the region was recorded as high as 90 per cent causing discomfort to the people.
In Chandigarh the humidity level was recorded at 84 per cent and the maximum temperature was 37.2 degree celsius, two degrees above normal.
In Haryana, Ambala recorded a maximum temperature of 37.8 degree, while in Hisar and Karnal, it was at 38 and 36.2 degree celsius respectively.
In Punjab, the maximum temperatures in Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala recorded at 38, 37.8 and 38 degree celsius respectively Himachal Pradesh's capital Shimla recorded a maximum temperature of 23.2 degrees, while Sundernagar, Bhuntar and Kalpa recorded a rise in the maximum temperatures to 34.8, 35.3, and 24.6 degree Celsius respectively as compared to yesterday's 32.4, 33.2 and 24.7 degrees.
The Met office has predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers in the region in the next 24 hours.
