Modi launches two schemes for malnourished children, girls and women

Ahmedabad, Jun 24 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today launched Balbhog Scheme (meal for children) and Chiranjee Yojna.

After the announcement of the schemes at the 24th Mahila Mahasammelan, organised in the tribal-dominated Dahod town, he said these two schemes would cover over 36-lakh children, girls and women, who are suffering from malnutrition.

Mr Modi distributed tool-kits and aids to the beneficiaries of the scheme. He also felicitated talented girls with the cash prize of rupees five thousand each from the Girls Education Scheme (Kanya Kelvani Nidhi).

He said, ''It is very important to educate every girl child.

First education then marriage (pahela vidhadaan pachhi kanyadaan).

Mr Modi also stated that for the first time after independence Gujarat government has implemented the Vanbandhu package with the outlay of Rs 15,000 crore for the tribals of the State.

The Vanbandhu package also includes setting up of a nursing college at Dahod town, Mr Modi added.
