Mirwaiz to attend meet on promising personalities in France

Srinagar, June 24 (UNI) Moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has left here for France to attend a week-long convention of promising personalities from across the world.

In a statement here, a Hurriyat spokesman said the French government had invited the Mirwaiz to attend the convention there.

During his stay in France, the Mirwaiz would also apprise the leaders from different countries about the present situation in Jammu and Kashmir and make them aware of the alleged growing human rights violations in the troubled state, he added.

The spokesman said the Hurriyat chairman would also attend a conference of Bishops of France and hold discussions with strategic affairs delegation about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and on India-Pakistan relations.

The Mirwaiz would meet the United States mission in-charge and also take part in a debate on India, Pakistan and the Kashmir issue.
