Meetings on IPI pipeline to be held next week
Kochi, June 24: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Murali Deora today said meetings with Iran and Pakistan would be held next week to discuss the core issues of the Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) pipeline.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Deora said issues like transportation charges and transit fees would be discussed in a round of talks with Pakistan on June 27. These talks would be followed by a meeting of all the three countries on June 29.
To a question on the proposed LNG Terminal Project, the minister informed that the plant would be commissioned by 2011.
He said agreements with an Australian firm and NTPC for the supply of LNG would be finalised on June, 2008.
When asked about the inordinate delay in the project, he said '' the delay in the commissioning of the project is due to the involvement of a number of agencies in the project.'' He said Cochin Port Trust, which was also involved in the project, had to complete the construction of road and dredging work for the terminal.
On the proposed Petro Chemicals Complex here, Mr Deora said presently the project had been deferred due to lack of 'rich gas.'
