Delhi to get 40 MGD water from Haryana for Nangloi WTP soon: CM

New Delhi, June 24 (UNI) Delhi would soon get 40 MGD water for Nangloi Water Treatment Plant from Haryana out of which 20 MGD had already been released, Chief Minister and Delhi Jal Board Chairperson Sheila Dikshit today said.

Inaugurating the laying of peripheral water main lines and Underground Reservoir and its peripheral system at Daultapur and Ujjwa village, which would benefit 42 villages in Outer Delhi, the Chief Minister said, the Supreme Court and the Union Government have already directed the Haryana Government to release 40 MGD water for the Capital.

The Haryana Government has already released 20 MGD for Nangloi Water Treatment Plant. After getting another 20 MGD of water, Nangloi Water Treatment Plant would be functioning with full capacity and acute shortage of water in few villages of Outer Delhi would be fully resolved, she said.

The Delhi Government is committed to provide better electricity and water to the citizens of Delhi' Ms Dikshit said. In this regard, the state Government has already released more than Rs 100 crore to the Haryana Government for construction and laying of pipeline so that Nangloi and Bawana Water Treatment Plants could get water without any interruption.

Stating that the state Government was committed to providing better amenities in rural and urbanised villages, Ms Dikshit said, construction of Ujjwa UGR and booster pumping Station and peripheral mains would facilitate to supply drinking water to the area under the command of Ujjwa UGR. This would be constructed with a cost of Rs 38 crore.

Ms Dikshit said, water mains will be connected with Ujjwa UGR with Ujjwa, Samaspur, Jaferpur Kalan, Surehra, Khera Dawar, Mundela Kalan, Mundela Khurd, Isapur, Kazipur, Bakargarh, Dhansa, Malikpur, Daryapur, Jhuljhuli, Sarangpur, Rawta, Galibpur and Deorala Villages. DJB would construct this UGR and BPS and peripheral water mains with a cost of Rs 25.51 crore, which would be completed with an expected period of 12 months. Ms Dikshit has instructed Delhi Jal Board CEO Arun Mathur to make sure that the work is completed within six months.

After commissioning of Daulatpur UGR and its peripheral system, 24 villages would be benefited, Ms Dikshit added. DJB would construct this UGR and BPS and peripheral lines would cost Rs 14.81 crore.

Also present on the occasion were Outer Delhi MP Sajjan Kumar, area MLAs Vijay Lochav and Dharam Dev Solanki, Delhi Jal Board CEO Arun Mathur besides a large gathering.
