Lapang summons cabinet meet to assess situation

Shillong, Jun 24: Chief Minister D D Lapang has summoned a cabinet meeting tomorrow to review the present overall law-and-order situation in Meghalaya.

The cabinet will discuss the impasse on the Uranium mining issue and the arrest of Khasi Student's Union(KSU) activists for disrupting public peace, official sources said here today.

The meeting would also review the law-and-order situation in the three districts of Garo Hills in the wake of the triple grenade explosions that killed one person and injured 11 others.

The date for holding the all-party meeting on uranium will also be taken up in the Cabinet meeting.
