AP CM conducts aerial survey of flood affected areas

Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, June 24 (UNI) Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today conducted an aerial survey of badly affected villages in this district.

Dr Reddy visited the flood-affected and submerged areas in Nandyal town and reviewed the flood situation with officials concerned.

The Chief Minister intereacted with the vitims of the flood- affected areas and directed the officials to ensure uninterrupted supply of drinking water and food to them until the situation inproved.

Stating that most of the villages in Kurnool district were inundated due to encroachment of the Kundu river, which was overflowing, the Chief Minister instructed the irrigation officials to remove the encroachments and strengthen the river beds immedaitely.

The government has announced Rs 2000 as compensation to the families whose houses were completely damaged, Rs 1200 for partially damaged houses and Rs 750 to the houses submerged in the flood waters as an immediate relief.

Meanwhile, the road traffic was restored between Kurnool and Nandyal, which was adveresly affected due to incessant rains, causing heavy damage to the roads in district.
